Visa Information

Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to travel to Switzerland. If you are a citizen of a country that requires a Swiss visa you will NOT be allowed to enter the country without one.

What type of visa do I need?

For those requiring a visa for the World Para Athletics Junior Championships a Short Term Visa (90 days) or Schengen Visa is recommended. Depending on your country of residence, you can submit your visa application directly at a Swiss representation abroad, with an external visa service provider, at the representation of another Schengen State, or via the online visa application. Details of the type of application necessary for your nationality can be found on the official website of the Swiss Federal Department of Justice and Police. Please note that not every country has Swiss representation abroad so you may be required to travel to a neighbouring country to complete your applications. In addition, certain Swiss representations abroad offer the possibility to make an online appointment for the submission of the visa application.

How do I apply for a visa?

Please keep in mind that a visa application may be submitted at the earliest three months before your planned trip. It is recommended that all visa applications are initiated 2 months prior to your arrival date in Switzerland.
